“Our strong preference is to go all-in where the market is heading, as opposed to hybrids as a way to hedge our bets,” said Scott Keogh, VW’s U.S. chief.
The short-sightedness of the approach of many Big Companies:
● making choices based on the analysis of Big Data coming from a declining Market, to then discover that they have followed the path to the failure of the Incumbents. <my Articles about Failure of Incumbents>
● not understanding that the innovation required today by Customers implies the need to CREATE A COMPLETELY NEW MARKET. <see How can companies change themselves?>
If it is true that the current approach of hybrid cars is wrong (it is not a question of adapting the current cars to electric traction, but rather of creating radically new vehicles), even more incorrect is the abandonment of hybrid technologies (necessary in a phase transition between the combustion engine and pure electric drive).
